"I'm the national sales mgr for Deprag USA and while this stay was not business related I do maintain contact with our offices.
I must check other locations first but if the policy is the same I will advise all sales and technical personel and any of our associates to not frequent Amerisuites.
I accessed AOL twice, hacing lost the connection once, neither time did I dial a 1 assuming it was a local call. My surprise came at check out. The hotel billed the calls as long distance, charging me based on the maximum, operator assisted rate and assesing an additional 40% surcharge. The two calls totaled over $20! I directed the attention of the front dest to this at check out but recieved a shrug and "Oh well". My mistake, I should have checked much closer but now I know the policy.
